I was a bit cautious about watching the movie as the reviews wern't so great. It received an average of B-. With reviews like "a beautiful yet boring movie", i did not expect it to be an extraordinary movie..
I guess the reviews weren't that far off.. It was a beautiful movie with an almost perfect Japanese setting. I dont think this movie can be understood unless u understand Japanese culture. The decisions and thoughts of the people in the movie is illogical if u use present condition logic. Its like I want to laugh at the reasons they did what they did, but I sorta understood y they did it..
anyways.. it was a bit boring.. I'm sure I would have fallen asleep had I watched it on a DVD by myself instead of the theater.. So unless ur a die hard fan of the novel or someone who understands historical Japanese culture (especially geishas), I'd suggest u pass this movie.. Well it doesnt matter coz u'll probably pass out watching it +lol+.. The last sentence was a P.U.N. btw... just in case u didnt get it.. or a P.U. if u didnt find it the least bit entertaining..
anyways... i give it 3.5 stars out of 5.. i'd have given it 2.5 stars, but the casts' actings were awesome and gave an excellent display.. the girl was cute too btw..
